Straight answers about our services, booking process, what to expect, and how to make the most of your visit to Elite Spa Utah.

Your Visit

What should I expect during my first massage at Elite Spa Utah?
Arrive 10 minutes early for your first visit to complete a brief health intake form. Your licensed therapist will greet you and have a short consultation to understand your goals, any areas of concern, injury history, and your pressure preference. You'll be shown to your private room and given complete privacy to undress to your comfort level. You'll be draped with a sheet throughout the entire session — only the area being actively worked on is uncovered. After your session, your therapist will give you a few minutes to rest before checking in.
Do I need to undress completely for my massage?
You undress to your own comfort level — always. Most modalities (Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, ashiatsu, 4 hands) are most effective with clients unclothed under a full drape. You are always covered except for the area being actively worked on. Shiatsu and chair massage are performed fully clothed. Your therapist will always explain what is appropriate for your service.
Are your massage therapists licensed?
Yes. Every massage therapist at Elite Spa Utah is a licensed massage therapist (LMT) in the state of Utah. We hold every team member to the highest professional and ethical standards. Your session is always performed by a credentialed, trained professional.
Is parking available at Elite Spa Utah?
Street parking is available on and around S State Street. We are also accessible via TRAX (Utah Transit Authority). Call us at (801) 839-8880 for specific parking guidance.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear whatever is comfortable for you to travel in. For table massage services, you'll undress in the private room. For shiatsu or chair massage, you'll remain fully clothed, so wear loose, comfortable clothing.

What is the difference between Swedish and deep tissue massage?
Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes and gentle-to-medium pressure to promote full-body relaxation and improve circulation — ideal for first-timers or stress relief. Deep tissue massage uses slower, firmer strokes to reach deeper muscle layers and fascia, targeting chronic tension and specific problem areas. If you're unsure which is right for you, our therapists will help you choose during your intake consultation. Swedish massage · Deep tissue massage
What is ashiatsu massage and is it right for me?
Ashiatsu is a barefoot massage technique in which the therapist uses their feet to apply broad, deep pressure across the back, glutes, and legs. It delivers deeper compression than hands alone, without the discomfort of sharp elbow or thumb pressure. It's ideal for those who want very deep work and have found traditional deep tissue pressure too concentrated or uncomfortable. Learn more about ashiatsu.
What is a head spa massage?
A head spa massage focuses on the scalp, neck, and shoulders — combining therapeutic scalp massage with neck and shoulder work. It stimulates blood flow to hair follicles, relieves chronic tension headaches, and deeply relaxes the upper body. It's especially popular with people who spend long hours at desks or screens. Learn more about head spa massage.
Is cupping therapy painful?
Cupping is not painful for most people. The suction sensation feels unusual at first but quickly becomes deeply satisfying — like the release of a knot being lifted rather than pressed. Some clients experience temporary redness or circular marks (petechiae) that fade within 3–7 days. These are normal and indicate areas of stagnant blood flow being mobilized — they are not bruises. Learn more about cupping therapy.
How long is a deep tissue massage session?
Deep tissue sessions at Elite Spa Utah are available in 60 or 90 minutes. For addressing chronic problem areas, we recommend the 90-minute session — it gives your therapist time to properly warm up the tissue before going deeper, and to address multiple areas if needed. Infrared Sauna & Specialty Treatments

How is medical infrared sauna different from a regular sauna?
A medical infrared sauna uses near, mid, and far infrared light waves that penetrate directly into your body tissue — raising your core temperature from within. A traditional sauna heats the surrounding air to very high temperatures (160–200°F). Infrared saunas operate at lower air temperatures (110–130°F) while achieving deeper tissue effects, including more efficient sweating for detox, cardiovascular benefit, and pain relief at a more comfortable ambient temperature. Learn more about medical infrared sauna.
What is reflexology and how is it different from a foot massage?
Reflexology is a therapeutic system based on the principle that specific zones of the feet (and hands) correspond to organs and systems throughout the body. A trained reflexologist applies targeted pressure to these zones to support whole-body balance and wellness. A standard foot massage is a relaxation treatment focused on relief for the feet themselves. More about reflexology. More about foot massage.
